The multiple-award winning band has hit the road with a highly awaited world tour, to celebrate 30 years since the release of their breakthrough album Joshua Tree.
"People who voted for Trump are welcome here, but he's not," Bono speaking to the Irish Mirror ahead of a concert in Seattle on Saturday night.

Bono further said that he is furious with Trump, who is cutting funding toward the fight against HIV, an issue that Bono has been intensely invested in.

"Bill Gates will be here tonight, but he will tell you, 'but that doesn't work guys.' He can't level it off because people will die," the frontman said.

The 57-year-old singer has also revealed that the band is set to release a new album next year, in a follow-up to their 2015 album Songs of Innocence.

Speaking about what inspired the band's new album, Bono revealed that RTE sports pundit Eamon Dunphy inspired one of their songs.

"He said when speaking of my missus that 'Ali was the best thing about Bono,'" the Dublin native revealed, adding that they have now written a song called You're The Best Thing About Me.

It has not all been rosy for Bono: His and Ali Hewson's clothing firm has recorded a dramatic loss over the last year.

The philanthropist created the fashion brand in 2005, with the aim of giving positive change through its branding relationship with Africa.

The firm, Edun Apparel Ltd, has been struggling in the last few years.

Last year, the company recorded a 35% increase in the loss recorded in 2014.
