An amicus brief by almost 126 companies was filed on Sunday in the ninth circuit court of appeals and emphasizes the role of immigrants and refugees in the society and to the economy.

Opposition to President Donald Trump's immigration order continues to elicit growing opposition with Apple, Facebook, Google, and Zynga, among companies that have joined in the condemnations.

An amicus brief by almost 126 companies was filed on Sunday in the ninth circuit court of appeals and emphasizes the role of immigrants and refugees in the society and to the economy.
The brief was to be filed later this week, but sources close to the action say the matter was accelerated because of the legal challenges involved. Technological companies like Uber, Netflix, Intel, Snap, Facebook, Airbnb including others such as Levi Strauss & Co and yogurt maker Chobani, took part in the filing of the brief.

The short read in part; "Immigrants make many of the Nation's greatest discoveries and create some of the country's most innovative and iconic companies," the brief states. "America has long recognized the importance of protecting ourselves against those who would do us harm."

It went on to state that background checks and other controls should be put in place, instead of proclaiming a blanket ban on all refugees and immigrants.

Last Friday, Trump's executive order suffered a major setback when a federal judge halted the ban temporarily and in turn allowed refugees and immigrants from 7 Muslim-majority countries to enter US soil.
The technology industry has been the most vocal on Trump's ban as many of their employees would be affected directly or indirectly
